A Church Rooted in Place and Purpose
For over a century, Tabernacle Presbyterian Church (“Tab”) has been faithfully serving God and the Indianapolis community from the corner of 34th and Central. We believe our location is no accident—it’s part of our calling. From the beginning, we have sought to live out Christ’s vision of reconciliation, healing, and hope by worshiping together, growing in faith, and serving our neighbors.
Tab is a church where history and hope meet. We honor the faithful legacy of those who came before us while seeking God’s direction for the future, trusting that the Holy Spirit continues to lead us into new seasons of ministry and impact.
Our Mission

Seasons of Discernment: Listening for God’s Call
Tab’s story is one of faithful reflection and bold vision. We believe God calls us to continually ask: Who are we today? Where is God leading us next? Two key seasons of discernment have helped shape Tab’s identity and direction:
2024 Mission Study
In 2024, Tab entered a season of deep reflection, prayer, and planning for the future of our ministry. With guidance from Holy Cow! Consulting and input from more than 330 members and friends, the Mission Study Team (MST) surveyed the congregation, analyzed results, and hosted listening sessions to better understand our strengths, challenges, and opportunities.
The resulting Mission Study Report captures those insights and lays a foundation for Tab’s next chapter of ministry.
2016 Vision Renewal
In 2016, Tab embarked on an intentional process of prayer and discernment to better understand God’s vision for the church. Through conversations with members, neighbors, and community partners, the Vision Renewal identified three central commitments—Greater Faith, Deeper Relationships, and a Stronger Community—that continue to guide our ministry today.
