Good Friday Services

Friday, April 3 | 5 PM & 7PM | Tab Sanctuary

Good Friday is observed at Tab on April 3, 2026 and will include two meaningful opportunities for worship and reflection. At 5pm, the church will hold a Choral Good Friday Service, featuring special music and choral anthems that bring the Passion story to life through song and sacred text. This service offers a powerful blend of music and scripture, allowing worshippers to enter the narrative of Christ’s suffering and hear it expressed through a rich musical tapestry. Tab will livestream this service on Good Friday.

Later in the evening at 7:00 p.m., Tabernacle Presbyterian Church will host a Tenebrae Service, a traditional service of shadows. In the Tenebrae liturgy, candles are gradually extinguished as scripture is read, symbolizing the encroaching darkness of sin and death as Jesus draws near to his crucifixion. The service culminates in profound silence and often a period of quiet reflection, drawing participants into the depths of Good Friday’s solemn mystery. Both services provide meaningful moments to ponder Jesus’ sacrificial love and to prepare spiritually for the celebration of Easter.

Good Friday is one of the most solemn and sacred days of the Christian year, observed on the Friday before Easter. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary, a moment at the heart of Christian faith that reflects both the depth of human brokenness and the magnitude of God’s love. On this day, worship intentionally turns toward contemplation, prayer, and remembrance of the suffering and sacrifice of Christ, inviting believers to sit with the weight of the cross and the cost of redemption.
